About Abigail "Abby" Schott, PT, DPT
I am a physical therapist with specialty training in neurological rehabilitation, working in both the UNC Center for Rehabilitation Care and UNC Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital. I primarily work with adults and adolescents who have experienced a neurological condition or injury, helping them recover and regain independence and function. My areas of special interest include traumatic brain injury (TBI), functional neurological disorder (FND), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), spinal cord injury (SCI), stroke (CVA), and cerebellar and vestibular disorders. I am also LSVT certified. Like many physical therapists, I first experienced physical therapy as a patient after an injury. However, it wasn't until PT school that I discovered my passion for neurological rehabilitation. I enjoy the challenge and variety the field offers, as well as the creativity involved in developing treatment plans that help people return to the activities they love and feel like themselves again. My philosophy of care is to celebrate the little wins. Physical therapy can be a long journey, and when larger goals or milestones haven't yet been reached, it can sometimes feel like progress isn't being made. I believe it's important to recognize the small victories that demonstrate just how far you've come. I am also committed to providing collaborative, holistic, and patient-centered care that supports each individual's unique goals and needs. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family as well as baking and doing crafts such as crocheting and painting. I also enjoy horseback riding and used to coach middle and high school lacrosse.
